Short Bio
Niyaz is an artist from New Delhi who has overcome many challenges to pursue his passion. Affected by polio at the age of 2, he grew up in a lower-income family and had to support his younger siblings by working in the sabzi mandi after school. Despite the challenges, he found solace in art and began drawing portraits while working. Eventually, people took notice and suggested he pursue art seriously.
Despite having no money for coaching classes, he was determined to succeed and eventually got enrolled in the course of Bachelor in Fine Arts at Jamia Milia University. He has created over 700 paintings and artworks. His artwork was selected by India Inclusion Summit for their art for inclusion in 2019.
He founded the Maqaam Foundation to provide educational opportunities to disabled children and those living in slum/urban poverty areas. The foundation's first exhibition was held in July 2022, and funds raised were used to create a skill centre for children to explore their potential with art and craft.
