Job Description

The Kindle Books & Content experience Team is looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer with Accessibility expertise to join their team. The Team is responsible for delivering rich content experiences to customers who are both readers and also authors across multiple surfaces.

Our Quality Assurance Engineers work with Software Development Engineers, to understand features and technical implementation. They also work with groups such as Product Management, User Interaction, and Customer Support to understand customer usage models and develop test plans and suites that approximate real-world environments and regression tests driving the software development process toward quality-centric methodologies.

Our Quality Assurance Engineers test code at the user level, both manually and with automated tools. They are not pure black box testers; they are grey box testers able to understand software internals, debug problems using log files, and write automated tests with Perl/Java scripts and/or user-level automated tools. We are looking for a talented, detail, oriented Quality Assurance Engineer who is passionate about quality and enthusiastic advocating for customers

Key job responsibilities
* Serve as a Accessibility subject matter expert (SME) QA and champion of all principles of accessibility and inclusion
* Participating in evaluations of new features designs and demo, drawing attention to accessibility issues.
* Collaborate across teams to develop existing and future accessibility initiatives
* Recommend and partner with Dev team in building accessibility tools and testing frameworks to improve operational excellence of design, product, and engineering teams.
* Provide accessibility expertise and innovate on behalf of our customers
* Come up with mechanisms to engage customers of all abilities being the voice of customers with disabilities.
* Work closely with user research and other teams to identify the top customer pain points and new feature needs. Suggest and share recommendations to build accessible products
* Collaborate across teams, domains and influence stakeholders to scale our accessibility processes, tooling, and features.

Basic qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1+ years of quality assurance engineering experience
  • Experience in manual testing
  • Experience in automation testing
  • Experience working with assistive technology, such as screen readers, magnification software, switch control devices, text to speech, etc.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in API & Mobile testing
