Voices from Leading Brands

  • On December 3rd, 2024, Tata Power celebrated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in a truly creative and inclusive way! In partnership with Atypical Advantage, we hosted "Inclusive Ink - Let's Doodle Together," a virtual doodle workshop led by the talented Varun Naren. More than an art session, this event celebrated creativity, diversity, and inclusion. Participants explored their artistic side while honoring ability, collaboration, and belonging. Adding a heartfelt touch, Varun's doodles paid tribute to our visionary leaders Shri Ratan Tata and Bharat Ratna Shri JRD Tata. This inspiring event reaffirmed our commitment to building a world that's equitable and accessible for all.

  • As Gayatri walked into our office, I offered to take her bag. She politely refused. A few minutes later, I offered to distribute the sheets to the participants; she quietly said, 'I will do it.' I was being polite, but perhaps I was making an assumption that she needed my help. I couldn't have been more wrong. Over the next hour, I observed a strong individual, absolutely clear about what she wanted to do and how she wanted to do it. She concluded her presentation by saying, 'Don't stand for me, stand with me.' That's when I realized where I was going wrong. It may have been a small session, but it is lessons like this that prompt us to stop and recognize how small actions can have a big impact. Shoutout to our partners Atypical Advantage for curating this beautiful workshop. And of course to Gayatri, for being an absolute star!

  • Recently, I had the privilege of visiting Art Through My Eyes, an incredible exhibition at the Nehru Centre in London, showcasing the talents of over 150 artists with disabilities. Organised by Atypical Advantage and Barkhat Beej Foundation, this initiative celebrated inclusivity and highlighted the boundless creativity of these exceptional individuals. At Mukul Madhav Foundation (MMF), we have always believed in the power of inclusion. It was an incredibly joyous experience for me to witness the artwork on display; every piece was a testament to the artists' resilience and their ability to reimagine the world through their lens. I am grateful to the founder, Mr. Vineet Saraiwala, for putting up this amazing show, which supports 25,000+ talented individuals and won the prestigious National Start-up Award under the social impact category by the Union Government of India.

  • Artists from Atypical Advantage - Niyaz Hussain, Aishwarya A and Ajay Kumar Garg - visited our hostels in Delhi, Bangalore and Jaipur and added more colour, vibrancy and life to our already colourful walls. These gifted artists not only inspire us through their artwork, but at the same time their life stories motivate us to keep chasing our dreams. By overcoming all obstacles and living independently, these artists are setting an example for millions out there. Atypical Advantage works in empowering specially abled people find employment through their skills and art.

  • Happy International Women's Day, this year we chose to celebrate with a theme that truly resonated: 'Double Diversity.' We wanted to highlight the importance of recognizing and valuing the diverse experiences of women, especially those facing intersectional challenges. To make the day even more special, we invited Shreya from Atypical Advantage to conduct a caricature workshop, and it was an absolute blast! Shreya, a 25-year-old hearing-impaired artist with a cochlear implant, has turned her challenges into triumphs. Despite the obstacles she faced in a traditional school setting, she embraced her passion for creative art and earned numerous accolades for her work. Here's to building a more inclusive and equitable future!
