Short Bio
Naveen Daniel is a disabled and bedridden Dalit artist and activist based in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. His work is deeply rooted in his lived experience—navigating life with a severe physical disability while confined to bed, and shaped by his political identity and unwavering belief in justice. Naveen began painting as an act of survival, expression, and resistance.
Despite having very limited hand movement, he creates intricate and emotionally resonant artworks on small A6 or A5 sheets, adapting his creative process to the physical space and ability available to him. His art focuses on disability, caste, and marginalization—not as distant or abstract ideas, but as urgent, lived realities.
Naveen does not take commissions or work on demand; he paints only what he believes in, what moves him, and what his heart compels him to express. He shares select pieces as prints and offers digital licensing for some of his works. His aim is not merely to create visual art, but to convey political and emotional truth—to help others see the world differently through his eyes.
