Atypical Advantage drives global disability inclusion through three major milestones: an inclusive corporate volunteering initiative in Bengaluru, securing 20+ art commissions for disabled artists with an interior design firm, and CEO Vineet Saraiwala’s powerful keynote in Singapore on what aging populations can learn from disability. | | Inclusive Volunteering Experience that initiated connections | Atypical Advantage brought together around 70 participants, including corporate volunteers from an American Fintech Company and children and staff from Bengaluru-based Gerizim Rehabilitation Trust, for a day of inclusive activities, creativity and community engagement. The session began with welcome performances by the Gerizim and Fintech teams, followed by an introduction to the engagements. Participants then took part in an adapted game of Musical Chairs that focused on teamwork and participation rather than elimination. Four creative stations: bracelet making, jewellery making, block printing and greeting card making, gave volunteers and children an opportunity to create and connect. With the room buzzing with smiles, giggles and curiosity, the day concluded with a shared lunch and reflections on different strengths each person brings to the group. | A collaboration that puts talent in the spotlight | An interior designer company commissioned over 20 paintings from 10+ artists with disabilities, including artists with hearing impairment and artists on the autism spectrum. Working within a tight turnaround, the artists brought their creativity to life, with most of the paintings already delivered. This collaboration created a platform for artists to have their work recognised and valued. “Knowing that someone has chosen my artwork and that it will be part of a space makes the experience very meaningful. It motivates us to keep creating and exploring what we can do through art,” said artists with disabilities. | Vineet Saraiwala’s message on disability and ageing strikes a chord in Singapore | At the DBS Foundation Impact Beyond Dialogue 2026 Regional Edition in Singapore, Atypical Advantage Founder and CEO Vineet Saraiwala delivered a keynote on What Ageing can learn from Disability, in the presence of Indranee Rajah, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Finance and National Development. Drawing from his lived experience with progressive vision loss and his work in disability inclusion, Vineet shared three lessons: embrace support, continue to contribute, and keep moving. "Whatever seniors experience in their old age is something people with disabilities experience when they are young. We can't change the circumstances, but we have a choice to respond better.” His perspective resonated with the audience, earning appreciation for a message that connected disability inclusion with the future of an ageing society. | International Day of Persons with Disabilities is knocking your door | Celebrated globally on 3 December, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities is an opportunity to champion inclusion through meaningful engagement.
