Short Bio
Chinmaya was diagnosed to be a case of Williams syndrome in
the UK. He underwent surgeries for congenital heart condition in in Liverpool ,
which was highly successful. He received education and vocational training in
schools for special need children from 1996 to 1999. Upon return to India in
1999, he did attend to the local school but because there were no facilities
for special need children, he couldn’t pursue his education beyond class 2.
Having severe learning disability made it impossible for him to find any special
need teacher help him study privately as well. Even though Chinmaya had severe
learning disability, he was found to be gifted in understanding music from very
early childhood. He wouldn’t like when any melancholic music is played around
him. He would breakdown and stop crying only when such music is stopped. By the
time he was 7 years old, he had already started playing keyboard on his own. If
he heard any music and he liked it, he would reproduce the music on his
keyboard that he just heard. Subsequently, we tried him with different music
teachers to help him play better. As he played by ear, no teacher could
contribute to his progress significantly unless the teacher hummed a piece of
music that Chinmaya liked. From the beginning, Chinmaya was in love with old
Bollywood hindi film hit songs, which are generally popular even today. Over
the years, he has been playing these songs and has gathered a large collection
of such songs. Chinmaya has been practicing with a mentor online to refine his
performance. He has played on piano in various occasions. Though regularly he
plays on piano keyboard, he adopts to grand piano in few minutes without any
noticeable difficulty. Chinmaya had a few years of singing with a decent level
to earn accolades, which he discontinued during the covid period as there were
no way to continue vocal practice for the fear of contracting covid. Given
another chance, he would return to vocal and I am sure, he would be able to
perform at a good level
