Associate Designer

Job Description : 
We’re looking for a Associate Designer who’ll be responsible for day to day management of others in their efforts to drive the engineering efforts for fixtures across various product segments in Copper Lighting System. You’ll be part of the Signify’ s Cooper Lighting Solutions engineering team in Pune (India) and its responsibilities are drawing /drafting of mechanical design of the product. This will include GD&T understanding and application of the necessary components of the product. This position will work closely with the NPI/Sustaining/VAVE
product group program manager, marketing manager, optical design group, electrical Engineering, sourcing, and manufacturing and engineering personnel to develop the products in an organized and expedient fashion. The assistant development engineer will be responsible for meeting the overall project schedule and delivery on deliverables.

What you’ll do
• Ensures design progression via CAD modeling / reviews, drawing and models creation and retention, testing plan creation, test review and coordinate with internal as well as third-party compliance.
• Manage multiple projects/programs/teams related to NPI’s/VAVE/Sustaining though execution of these programs/projects in a timely manner, supporting the business goals.
• He should have good knowledge on mechanical luminaire design –thermal management, plastic flow analysis, sheet metal, castings etc.
• Support existing products to support customer, manufacturing, applicable regulatory and industry standard and market requirement through change management process (ECN’s/ECR’s)
• Perform a wide variety of engineering and technical tasks involving the application of engineering knowledge and the development of solutions to complex problems pertaining to products, materials, manufacturing processes, tests, and unique customer applications. Manages technical proposals and develop accurate estimates.
• Drive discontinuation and obsolescence projects to include component substitutions and ECN's Associate Designer- Pune
• Determination of fabrication alternatives, design review, tooling release.
• First article inspection and production release, Issue, and control of engineering documentation
• Preparing test requests for UL compliance, validating design for form, fit, function and overall product reliability, Change and update BOM's and product structures, often in masses.
• Supporting the data management needs of the engineering organization, Assist factories with GUI XT, BOM Error Corrections, and use of engineering tools.
• Actively participates in product group program-reviews for the group and leverage SMEs to conduct the technical-reviews. Review, design proposals and documentation required to define & control products. Participate in design reviews, both customer and internal as required.
• Continually elevates the capabilities of the team. Actively discuss, capture, and train on Lessons Learned while continuing to build the NPI /VAVE/Sustaining Book of Knowledge.
• Create Intellectual Property documents (IPs) around new product design concepts / ideas and drive innovation from ideation through to execution.

What you’ll need
• Requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering (Mechanical) with good knowledge on drawings/drafting using solid works in mechanical engineering.
• Experience working on designing & development of Lighting Products applications, Strong technical experience in - New Product development, Sheet metal & Plastic design, 2D / 3D CAD package (Solid Works, Creo, AutoCAD) and manufacturing.
• Minimum of 0-1 year of experience with and demonstrated proficiency with 3-D modeling software (Solid works)
• Should have good knowledge about drawings, dimensioning standards, tolerance standards & stack-up, engineering calculations, complete system / component sizing, modeling and simulation, strong analytical skills - understanding mechanical stresses, fatigue life, part fits.
• Establishing efficient, ergonomic methods of assembly, designing of mechanical parts which are manufactured, good understanding of Solid works, PLM & SAP PLM system, requirements management for documentation control and workflow and engineering change management processes
• Good knowledge of regulatory and industry standard ASME Y14.1 (GD&T), UL, IEC, NEMA etc.
• Knowledge of design processes, program/product management skills, knowledge of customer strategies, successful new product introduction experience.
• Creative/innovative thinking. Have a knowledge in full product development life cycle on multiple projects including requirements, design, development, verification & validation, qualification & certification for Electrical applications.
