Atypical Advantage is advancing disability inclusion across multiple sectors. Recent milestones include launching an accessible English course for deaf learners, partnering with PACTA to feature disabled artists in their annual report, and being recognized by HUL Transform for pioneering inclusive hiring within the manufacturing industry.
Atypical Academy empowers deaf learners with an impactful English course
After interacting and training more than 500+ deaf learners at Atypical Advantage, we decided to launch a course specific to training deaf individuals in English. Here’s what Sarthak has to say about his experience.
"I’m deaf and to me, English was always difficult and traditional learning methods never kept me engaged. I joined Atypical Academy’s English Learning for Deaf and Hard of Hearing and that changed everything for me. From grammar and letter writing to storytelling, every lesson is taught through creative techniques that makes learning enjoyable. Since it's self-paced, I can learn at my own speed and revisit concepts whenever I need to. For the first time, I'm genuinely enjoying learning English and feel more confident every day. Thank you, Atypical Academy!" says Sarthak from Gwalior. [Translated from ISL]
A thoughtful choice by Pacta
Inclusion doesn't always need a grand stage. Sometimes, it begins with a simple, thoughtful choice. As part of PACTA’s ongoing work in the disability sector, it featured seven artworks by artists with disabilities across its annual report, as the cover and section dividers. The selected paintings were colourful abstracts painted by artists with down syndrome, autism and muscular dystrophy. A simple design choice, yet one that transformed every page into a platform for talent. A report that will reach millions now also carries the stories and talent of these artists. This move by PACTA proves that sometimes inclusion is about finding meaningful ways to create visibility in everyday choices.

MIB directs online movie ticket platforms to display film accessibility features
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has issued a mandatory advisory directing all online movie ticketing platforms and aggregators to implement an independent mechanism displaying whether a film includes accessibility features. Before users book their tickets, interfaces must prominently show the availability of features like audio description, closed captions, and Indian Sign Language (ISL). Ticketing platforms are given seven days to comply, empowering moviegoers with disabilities to make fully informed entertainment choices. (Source: Indian Express)
