GCPL Chennai celebrates the Disability Pride Month and prepares for a new hiring batch
|
Once an on-site project manager, now the Head of Blue-Collar Inclusive Hiring, Laharee returned to Godrej Chennai during Disability Pride Month, and was met with a moment that came full circle. The candidates she once nurtured now took the stage with a skit titled “Sign Language – A Language of Hope”, a powerful reminder that communication goes far beyond words. When Laharee spoke to the candidates hired in October 2024, they shared stories of supportive managers, thoughtful teammates, and gestures as simple and meaningful as helping them find a place to stay. They didn’t feel accommodated. They felt valued. In the backdrop, Godrej prepared for yet another inclusive job drive, welcoming 22 determined candidates. One parent remarked, “It’s the first time I’ve seen a company so genuinely supportive of persons with disabilities.” Once again, Godrej proved that inclusion isn’t a campaign, it’s a culture.

India’s oldest technical institute join hands with Atypical Advantage
|
We’re thrilled to announce our collaboration with NTTF (Nettur Technical Training Foundation), a prestigious skilling institute with a legacy in vocational education since 1959. Together, we’re launching ITI-level skilling programs exclusively for persons with disabilities. At the heart of this partnership is a shared belief: no individual should be excluded simply because the systems around them aren’t inclusive yet. At Atypical Advantage, we’ve always believed in unlocking possibilities, and this initiative will provide access to quality training, meaningful careers, and the dignity of earning. We’re building a pipeline of skilled, job-ready talent from the disability community, ready to transform both workplaces and perceptions and we can’t wait to see the impact it creates.

A church that delivers sermons in sign language

In the Somolu suburb of Lagos, a church exclusively serving deaf worshippers delivers sermons entirely in sign language, with drum vibrations guiding communal responses. Serving around 50–60 congregants weekly, the decades-old Christian Mission for Deaf Africans fosters spiritual connection, social support, and offers sign-language classes for both deaf and hearing community members. Which one speaks to your soul the most? Is it Krishna playing his flute, hugging Maa Yashodha, gently resting beside his beloved cow, or dancing joyfully with Radha? Maybe… all of them? This Janmashtami, bring Lord Krishna into your home, not just as a painting, but as a divine blessing. Each artwork has been lovingly crafted by an artist with a disability, and every purchase helps support their dignity and livelihood.
