Intrepid’s Bold Move: Smashing Two Stereotypes Together
"Ek to ladki, upar se deaf—kya hi karegi life me!"
Imagine—a hearing and speech-impaired women teaching you Art. This Women’s Day, Intrepid decided to break not just one but two stereotypes by inviting Shreya, a 25-year-old hearing-impaired artist to their Delhi office. Through a Live Caricature workshop Shreya guided 32 leaders in creating caricatures for their colleagues. And these weren’t just random sketches—90% of them perfectly replicated the faces of their friends, all by following Shreya’s guidance!
“Despite my deafness and speech impairment, I could communicate with each and every one of them, because they took efforts. The most memorable moment for me was when I realized that the participants weren’t just following instructions but genuinely enjoying the process,” said Shreya.
Godrej’s Landmark Plant in Tamil Nadu Sets New Standards for Inclusion and Growth
Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) is setting a new benchmark for inclusivity. In a proud moment at the inauguration of its first integrated greenfield manufacturing plant in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, alongside Nadir Godrej, Chairperson of Godrej Industries Group, personally handed over offer letters to four hearing-impaired candidates. These individuals, part of a total of nine persons with disabilities hired through Atypical Advantage, represented inclusion on stage, marking a significant step toward workplace diversity and empowerment.
Unexpected Twist at Danaher’s Routine Sensitization Session in Mumbai
Our Disability Sensitization Session for Danaher was in its regular flow when an employee, empowered by the newly acquired knowledge, shared a story about her cousin.
"I have a cousin who is Hearing Impaired, and whenever we are on a video call, we give him special treatment, put all our focus on him, and think that’s what he wants. However, now I realize that we are treating him as exclusive, not inclusive," she said.
One of them reflected,
"We always used to think that persons with disabilities have some special power (Divya Shakti), but this session helped me understand that there is no superpower—only conditioning, awareness, and practice."
While its important to ensure that we are considerate of everyone’s requirements, remember that Inclusion isn’t about assumptions, it’s about understanding, action, and making spaces accessible for all.
