Founder Vineet Saraiwala highlighs accessibility initiatives, social resilience, and AI’s impact on disability employment at Charcha 2026. | | Ensuring safety and opportunity is accessible through Hiring | On International Sign Language Day, we’re looking back at our journey with the Deaf community and how far we still have to go. For a person with hearing impairment, stepping into a manufacturing plant for the first time can come with questions. Today, Atypical Advantage has placed 400+ people with hearing impairment across 22+ manufacturing plants, including those of Uno Minda, Micron, Nestlé, Tata Motors, and Tata AutoComp. Specialised training, visual safety protocols, and workplace sensitisation have helped make these environments easier to navigate. While unfamiliar places can increase uncertainty, we ensure that candidates and their families get an opportunity to visit the factory before joining, see the workplace for themselves, understand the environment, and ask questions, helping them feel more confident about taking that first step. | Taking Indian Sign Language to the grassroot level | What may look unfamiliar at first often becomes the most engaging counter in the room. During our ISL workshops, groups of employees gather around, not just to learn a few signs, but to understand how they can communicate better with their Deaf colleagues and customers. And more often than not, the session ends with a common question: “How can we learn more?” So far, we have trained 17,000+ employees in Indian Sign Language, including workforce of Reliance Retail, LinkedIn, Nestle, PwC and one of India’s largest airlines, to name a few. Today, they are using ISL to interact with Deaf employees and customers, turning what began as a workshop into a skill they can use in everyday interactions. | Vineet Saraiwala speaks at Charcha 2026 | Vineet Saraiwala, Founder and CEO of Atypical Advantage, recently spoke at Charcha2026, India's largest collaborative convening for cross-sector dialogue on inclusive economic growth and social impact, hosted by DBS Foundation, about Building Social Resilience: Innovation in Healthcare & Education. From his experience at Atypical Advantage’s work, he added his insights on Inclusive employment, accessible learning, and how the right support systems can help persons with disabilities move from being beneficiaries of solutions to active participants in the workforce and society. The panel discussed how, for persons with disabilities, AI presents both new questions around entry-level jobs and new possibilities for accessibility and participation and Vineet’s perspective added an important dimension to the conversation on how resilience becomes stronger when people have the tools, access, and opportunities to shape their own futures. | Indian Sign Language Must Become Part of Everyday Citizenship” says DEPwD | On Sign Language Day 2026, DEPwD emphasized wider use of Indian Sign Language (ISL) to promote the rights and inclusion of deaf persons. ISLRTC launched educational resources, an ISL version of “Vande Mataram,” accessible books, an expanded ISL Dictionary, and ISL-based digital learning content to reduce communication barriers.
