A magical workshop, some human connection and a dream job

Deloitte hosts an afternoon of art, empathy, and unforgettable human connection

Varun and Veena hosting the doodling art workshop at Deloitte.

As part of Autism Awareness Month, Deloitte brought its people together for a session that promised not just art and awareness, but connection. At the center of it was Varun, an artist and a storyteller with Fragile X Syndrome, accompanied by his mother Veena, his constant pillar of strength. Together, they invited everyone into their world, through fun doodling and moments of vulnerability, sharing Varun’s journey. As the session progressed, over 520 attendees tuned in, and what they took away was far more personal. It was understanding, empathy and inspiration. By the end, the chat box overflowed with formal applause, heartfelt wishes, and messages that reflected how deeply Varun’s story had touched them. In the process, what stayed with the employees was not just the art of doodling, but also the stories that made Varun, what he’s today.

KAE capital hosts a magical workshop that blows life into lifeless stones

Snippets from the stone art workshop, with Nehal and the employees participating at KAE Capital.

At KAE Capital, a simple stone art painting workshop, unfolded layers of inclusion. Led by Nehal Tiwari, an artist on the Autism Spectrum, for a close-knit group, the session was designed as a neurodiversity-focused experience. As colours found their way onto stones, conversations flowed just as freely. Nehal found herself deeply immersed in the energy of the room, cherishing every interaction and the genuine enthusiasm participants brought with them. For her, it wasn’t just about guiding an activity, but about building moments. The participants, in turn, embraced the experience wholeheartedly. Their appreciation was evident not just in their creations, but in the way they acknowledged Nehal’s dedication and warmth throughout the session. But perhaps the most special moment was a quiet one. As participants turned to Nehal for guidance, showing her their work, seeking her inputs, she found herself stepping into the role of a teacher. And in that moment, she realized how much joy teaching brought her. It wasn’t just a workshop anymore; it was a memory in the making, one that stayed long after the stones had come to life.

Tarun’s journey of self-belief leads him to dream job

An AI generated image of a man in blue shirt showing a thumbs up sign representing Tarun and his successful placement at Honeywell.

Living with a locomotor disability came with its own set of challenges. For Tarun, simple things were often difficult due to his height and the limitations in both his hands. But somewhere deep within, he always held on to one belief, that his disability should never define the size of his dreams. Today, he's proud to begin a new chapter as a Software Engineer 2 at Honeywell.

“This opportunity is more than just a job for me as it represents independence and the countless moments of resilience that brought me here. I am deeply grateful to Atypical Advantage for believing in the potential of persons with disabilities and for creating opportunities that truly empower lives.” When we asked him to share a message, he said, “To every person with disability reading this: Your journey may not be easy, but your dreams are still valid. With patience, self-belief, and consistent hard work, it is absolutely possible to build the future you deserve.”

Supreme Court pushes states on disability rights, sets final deadline for accountability

Supreme Court pushes states on disability rights, sets final deadline for accountability.

The Supreme Court has pulled up states and Union Territories for delays in implementing key disability rights measures under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
