A Workshop that changed perspectives at Genslar
|
Last Friday at Gensler Bangalore, we hosted a Disability Sensitization & Physical Accessibility Workshop, followed by a therapeutic Tile Art session with our talented artist, Gayatri. Here’s what Naseera Razak, Managing Director at Gensler, shared: “Today’s workshop was an eye-opening experience. It showed us that accessibility isn’t about ramps or checklists but about reimagining spaces so every individual can move with dignity and ease. The best part was hearing firsthand experiences, which was both instructive and moving. This workshop reminded us that every choice we make has the power to include or exclude, and inclusion goes beyond just a checklist."

In a judicious ruling, the Supreme Court of India has directed social media influencers, including Samay Raina, to issue public apologies, via videos on their platforms, for mocking persons with disabilities, including individuals with Spinal Muscular Atrophy and blindness. The Court emphasized that freedom of speech does not extend to speech that demeans or humiliates vulnerable communities and labelled such content “commercial speech” requiring accountability.
