How Reliance Retail made content accessible for 1000+ deaf employees

A snippet from our video conversion in Sign Language.

When Reliance Retail realized that several of their training resources weren’t accessible to employees with hearing impairments, they knew something had to change. They reached out to us to convert their extensive training manuals into Indian Sign Language (ISL) through the expertise of our sign language interpreters. It wasn’t a quick fix. Minute by minute, word by word, gesture by gesture, nearly 300 minutes of training content were thoughtfully transformed into ISL videos. Today, employees with hearing impairment learn, grow, and contribute with the same resources as everyone else. And for us at Atypical Advantage, it’s yet another reminder of the impact we can create when businesses choose to invest in accessibility.

When dreams and hard work, walk hand in hand

A Ghibli style image of Ujjawal and Pooja at a leading e-commerce company.

There’s always an unseen hand that gently guides you towards your destination. Ujjawal and Pooja credit that to Atypical Advantage. Both of them secured roles as Transportation Representatives at a leading e-commerce company.

"This achievement wouldn't have been possible without your belief in me," Ujjawal shared, his voice filled with gratitude.

Alongside him was Pooja, who equipped herself for the intricacies of the interview process, a preparation that made all the difference.

"Atypical’s insights and encouragement gave me a real edge," Pooja reflected.

With every mock interview and each piece of constructive feedback, her confidence blossomed. Today, both Ujjawal and Pooja are working at a company many aspire to be a part of. As they begin this exciting new chapter at their dream company, we wish them the very best and remind them that behind every milestone stands a community cheering them on.

Atypical’s Hire & Train program enhances communication skills

Sunsure (Candidate on the Right) and Aditi Diwan (Trainer on the left).

Sunsure Energy recently welcomed a new team member with cerebral palsy into their reception team. While the individual brought great enthusiasm, the role required stronger communication and client interaction skills. Recognizing this, Sunsure Energy reached out to Atypical Advantage, trusting our expertise in communication skill-building. We quickly stepped in with a tailored, two-month training program to enhance the candidate’s communication abilities and client engagement. The training is currently underway, and we’re delighted to witness steady progress in the candidate’s communication journey. Stories like these affirm the value of purposeful partnerships, where organizations reach out, not to point out shortcomings, but to invest in potential. And we’re proud to be the trusted partner they turn to when expectations and reality need a little alignment.

News 1: Supreme Court: Digital Access a Fundamental Right, e-KYC Must Be Disability-Friendly. The Supreme Court of India has ruled that digital access is a fundamental right under Article 21, directing that e-KYC processes and government digital services be made accessible for persons with disabilities. The judgment aims to bridge the digital divide and uphold inclusive, dignified access to essential services for all. (Source: TOI). News 2: Disability Right Activist Flags Accessibility Gaps at Bharat Mandapam. Dr. Satendra Singh, a disability rights activist, has raised concerns over the lack of accessibility at Bharat Mandapam, a prominent convention centre in New Delhi. During the World Health Summit 2025, he observed issues such as inaccessible lifts, non-compliant ramps, locked or inadequate accessible washrooms, and absence of wheelchair seating or stage access for speakers with disabilities. Dr. Singh has filed complaints with the India Trade Promotion Organisation and the Department of Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities, citing violations of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (Source: TOI)
Is Accessibility a feature or a fundamental right? May marks the beginning of World Accessibility Awareness Month, dedicated to promoting digital accessibility and ensuring that every piece of content is inclusive for all. When we create a website, we often focus on making it user-friendly but overlook a significant community — people with disabilities. For individuals with visual impairment, it’s crucial that websites are compatible with screen readers. Curious if your website is accessible?. CLICK HERE FOR FREE SCAN.
