Born in 1990 and affected by polio in childhood, Syed Ashiq Pasha overcame immense challenges to become the world’s first professional Wheelchair Bharatanatyam dancer. Abandoned by his family, he was adopted and trained by Guru Dr. Syed Sallauddin Pasha, D.Litt., the pioneer of Wheelchair Dance and founder of Miracle on Wheels and Ability Unlimited. Under his mentor’s guidance, Ashiq mastered Bharatanatyam, Sufi Dance, Martial Arts, and Bollywood Dance on wheelchairs, performing leading roles in acclaimed productions such as Bhagavad Gita on Wheels and Ramayana on Wheels. Renowned as the only dancer in the world to perform three continuous hours of Bharatanatyam on a wheelchair, he has represented India at prestigious cultural events across the USA, UK, France, Italy, Malaysia, Muscat, and South Africa. Beyond performance, he is skilled in film editing, graphic design, lighting, stagecraft, and costume design. From being an abandoned child to a global cultural ambassador, Syed Ashiq Pasha stands as a symbol of resilience and proof that disability is not inability.
