Description

The living God of Malabar, this painting is of Sree Muthappan Theyyam. It is believed that the people who ritually enact the Muthappan Theyyam become the God after they put on the makeup and is believed to possess godlike powers during the whole performance. The main mode of worship is by the ritual enactment of Muthappan, performed daily at the Parassinikadavu temple.
